Another success after Mark Rylance won an Oscar for his outstanding performance in Studio Babelsberg’s co-production BRIDGE OF SPIES: Location Managers Klaus Darrelmann and Markus Bensch have been nominated for the Location Managers Guild Awards in Los Angeles.

The Locations Managers Guild International (LMGI) annually awards the best professionals in their field. In addition to Klaus Darrelmann and Markus Bensch for BRIDGE OF SPIES, location teams from MAD MAX: FURY ROAD, THE REVENANT, STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON and SICARIO have been nominated. The Awards honor film and television productions worldwide, in which the creative selection of filming locations enhances or helps to drive the storyline.

Klaus Darrelmann and Markus Bensch were responsible for film locations in Germany and Poland for Steven Spielberg’s BRIDGE OF SPIES. Their work included location scouting on the basis of the script, the organization of shooting permits as well as location management during the filming. Thus, both have been nominated in the category “Outstanding Locations in a Period Film“.

Christoph Fisser, COO of Studio Babelsberg AG and co-producer of BRIDGE OF SPIES: "We are absolutely overwhelmed and thoroughly happy for both of them. The Location Management starts long before the first day of shooting and demands detailed research and preparation. It represents creative as well as organizational competence of Studio Babelsberg. We keep our fingers crossed for the boys and look forward to the awarding ceremony.“

In 2015, Klaus Darrelmann was already awarded as best Location Manager for Studio Babelsberg’s co-production The Grand Budapest Hotel.

Moreover, Studio Babelsberg is glad about the nomination of Berlin-Brandenburg Film Commission in the category “Outstanding Film Commission“.

The Location Managers Guild Awards ceremony takes place on April 23 in Los Angeles. The Locations Managers Guild International (LMGI) is the trade association of Location Managers und Location Scouts as well as internationally working Film Commissions.
